Owen Thielges is pushing into the UND safety mix
Owen Thielges looks like a rising North Dakota safety with starter-level buzz in fall camp, after playing in two games as a true freshman in 2025 and recording five total tackles. In 2026, he’s listed at 6-foot-2, 194-195 pounds, and reports out of camp say he’s been running with the first unit at times, which points to trust, physical maturity, and improving range. His high-school résumé also pops: first-team all-state, defensive player of the year, and 11 career interceptions. He feels like a fit for a defense that wants reliable instincts, length, and a competitive downhill tackler.
