UMES lefty with a live arm, but command is the swing skill
In the 2026 season, Elijah Benton has worked both as a starter and a bullpen piece for Maryland Eastern Shore, with results showing flashes of swing-and-miss ability but also some rough edges in command. His best differentiators are a projectable left-handed arm, a history of showing strikeout potential, and enough versatility to help the Hawks in multiple roles. On the downside, 2026 game reports show inconsistent run prevention and walk issues, so his fit looks best for a staff that can develop raw stuff into repeatable strikes.
