Freshman RHP Mason Gass is a work-in-progress arm with swing-and-miss upside for Ohio
In the 2026 season, Mason Gass has been a regular part of Ohio’s pitching mix as a freshman right-hander, working in both starts and relief while showing real bat-missing ability at times, including a six-strikeout relief win over Northern Illinois and a 4.1-inning relief outing with 6 strikeouts on March 6, 2026. The flip side: the ERA has been bumpy, and several midseason starts featured heavy contact and home runs, so he looks more like a developing, competitive innings-eater than a finished product. If you value upside, toughness, and a pitcher who can take the ball often, he’s interesting.
