Cole Giesige brings strikeout pedigree and senior-lefty toughness to Toledo
Cole Giesige is a senior left-handed starter for Toledo in the 2026 season, and his biggest calling card is swing-and-miss ability: he posted 7 strikeouts in a five-inning outing against Butler on March 24, 2026, after striking out 5 across 4.1 innings in the MAC title game against NIU on May 23, 2026. The rough edge is consistency—he also took several hard-luck starts early in the season—so he looks like a pitcher whose fit depends on whether a staff wants strikeout upside and competitive grit more than polished command. He’s a proven competitor with Division III success at Albion before transferring, and the doctors-note version: durable, experienced, and not afraid of the smoke.
