Melissa Carr is an up-and-coming Virginia catcher with efficient bat-to-ball flashes and early-career versatility
Carr has only a small Virginia sample so far, but she has shown real growth: in 2025 she played in 10 games, earned two starts, and picked up her first career hit, run, and two-RBI game against Seton Hall, after a sparse freshman season in 2024. Her profile fits a development-minded roster because she brings catcher value, right-handed throwing, and the kind of academic consistency that earned ACC Academic Honor Roll recognition. The upside here is not volume yet — it’s a steady, coachable defender whose offensive ceiling is still being uncovered.
