NC State’s High-Leverage RHP with Elite Swing-and-Miss Stuff
Collins Black, a 6'2", 202-lb right-handed pitcher from Cary, NC, is emerging as NC State’s key high-leverage arm in 2026 after transferring from Duke. In the 2025 season at Duke, he struck out 18 batters in 9.1 bullpen innings, and at NC State in 2026, he posted a 3-1 record with two saves across 12 games. Though his college debut ERA was inflated (11.57), his stats are deceptive—he flashed elite swing-and-miss ability immediately after. Rated the No. 53 overall prospect in NC and No. 23 RHP pre-Duke, Black brings 2024 Perfect Game All-American pedigree, intense competitiveness, and a calm demeanor under pressure. His injury history is clean, and his intensity level is unmatched. He’s a perfect fit for teams needing a reliable, high-upside sophomore RHP with proven big-game experience.
