John Puk gives UAlbany a rim-protecting presence with efficient finishing
Puk is a low-usage center whose value comes from defense, size, and efficient finishing rather than heavy shot volume: in the 2025-26 season he averaged 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.5 assists while shooting 46.1% from the field.[3] He has shown real rim-protection upside, including a five-block game against UMBC, which hints at the kind of paint deterrence that can change a possession even when he is not scoring.[2] If your team needs a physical interior anchor who can protect the lane, stay within his role, and provide steady value without needing touches, he is a sensible fit.[2][3]
