J'Quan Mason is turning into UAB’s rising pass-rush spark
In the 2025 season, J'Quan Mason played in nine games and posted nine tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss, and 1.0 sack, then carried that momentum into fall 2026 by reportedly leading UAB’s first preseason scrimmage with four sacks[1][14]. At 6-foot-4 and about 240 pounds, he has the frame and edge burst to be disruptive, and UAB’s own notes point to a player whose game has slowed down mentally as he’s learned the details of the position[1][11]. He looks like a useful fit if a team wants a developing, high-motor DE with room to climb rather than a finished product[1][11].
