Meade Johnson is SIU’s big-frame, high-leverage righty with closing juice
In the 2026 season, Meade Johnson has been one of Southern Illinois’ most trusted late-inning arms, highlighted by a three-inning, hitless, five-strikeout save in the MVC tournament and other high-pressure relief work. His calling card is swing-and-miss stuff and a bulldog mentality on the mound, though his walk totals show the command can still run hot-and-cold. At 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, the Mattoon native gives the Salukis a physical, strikeout-capable RHP who can fit if your team wants toughness, leverage innings, and a pitcher who isn’t afraid of the moment.
