Nigel Johnson brings veteran shot-making and ACC-tested poise to Virginia
In the 2017-18 season, Nigel Johnson was a useful backcourt spark for Virginia, averaging 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.5 minutes per game while shooting 38.6% from the field and 32.7% from three.[1][6] His best value was as a steady transfer guard with real scoring upside—he had already shown at Rutgers that he could carry more offense, including 11.3 points per game the prior season, and Virginia leaned on him for punch off the bench.[3][5] If a team wants an experienced guard who can handle pressure, provide quick buckets, and bring mature, tournament-level composure, he fits the bill.[11][13]
