Ashton Gray brings burst, efficient production, and late-season upside
Gray emerged in 2025 as a compact, explosive runner for North Texas, averaging 6.5 yards per carry and scoring five rushing touchdowns on 58 carries while flashing his best traits in the bowl game, where he posted 152 yards and two scores on 16 attempts. His biggest differentiators are acceleration, open-field burst, and quarterback-made-runner versatility from his Marion HS background, which showed up in his ability to hit chunk plays when touches increased. The main fit question is workload: he looks like a strong change-of-pace or zone-running fit with upside, not yet a proven every-down bell cow.
