Troy Reader is a depth catcher with blue-chip prep pedigree
Reader’s 2026 role at Notre Dame was limited—he appeared in five games and drove in one run, which tells you he’s still more developmental than established at the college level[1]. The draw is the profile: a right-handed catcher from Berkeley Prep with a strong amateur resume, including Collegiate Baseball Newspaper 2023 second-team All-American honors and a top-10 catcher ranking in Florida by Perfect Game[1]. That combination suggests upside, but his current value is more about future catching depth than immediate production[1][2].
