Nevada’s Bold Sophomore QB Ready to Elevate the Wolf Pack
Carter Jones, a 6'3", 197-lb pro-style QB from Lancaster, TX, made an immediate impact as Nevada’s first true freshman starter since 2017, posting 1,019 yards, 6 TDs, and 8 INTs in 2025 with a 64.3% completion rate. While his 38.4 QBR and 2-5 start record reveal inconsistency, Jones differentiates himself with rare poise under pressure, a strong deep-ball touch, and a relentless work ethic that earned him Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Entering summer 2026 as the favorite to start, his growth trajectory could accelerate Nevada’s rebuild—if he cuts turnovers and sharpens decision-making, he’s a high-upside fit for teams seeking a developmental QB with NFL-style traits.
