Freshman lefty Ian Fisher brings a polished strike-throwing foundation to UCLA
Ian Fisher is a 6-foot-1 freshman LHP from Carlsbad who arrives at UCLA with a strong high-school résumé: a 1.57 ERA, 159 strikeouts, and just 35 walks over 129.1 innings, plus captaincy experience and all-league recognition. His calling card is command, competitiveness, and a projectable left-handed frame that should play well if his velocity and secondary stuff keep trending up. He did not make an appearance in 2026, so the upside case is still about development—but the ingredients for a reliable college arm are clearly there.
