Andrew Abu-Akel brings preseason All-SWAC kicker reliability to Alabama State
Abu-Akel enters 2026 as a **redshirt freshman kicker/punter** for Alabama State and earned **Phil Steele preseason All-SWAC second-team** recognition after an efficient 2025 season, going **9-for-11 on field goals** and **51-for-51 on PATs** while ranking among the SWAC leaders in kicking points.[7][9] His value is consistency under pressure: he was named **SWAC Specialist of the Week** and showed range with makes from **43** and **42** yards, making him a strong fit for a team that wants dependable scoring and field-position stability.[9]
