UMBC freshman RHP Anthony Blackford brings strikeout pop and two-way upside
Anthony Blackford arrives at UMBC with a sturdy 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame and a reputation for missing bats: in his 2025 high-school season, he posted 45 strikeouts in 32 innings with a 4.33 ERA, and earlier in 2024 he logged 20 strikeouts in 10 innings with a 2.62 ERA while filling a bigger role amid pitching injuries. UMBC lists him as a right-handed pitcher in the 2026 roster, and his background shows both mound impact and bat-to-ball value, making him an intriguing developmental arm if a staff wants a competitive, versatile pitcher with upside.
