DeWhitt Betterson Jr. brings NFL bloodlines, power, and patience to Troy’s backfield
Betterson enters the 2026 season as a 6-foot, 214-pound senior RB with intriguing upside: he’s the son of Troy’s all-time leading rusher, and Troy has already highlighted his scout-team impact and special-teams work even before game action. In high school, he rushed for 1,835 yards and 19 touchdowns at Vanguard, and Troy’s staff has used him as part of a deeper, reshuffled backfield. He looks like a fit for a physical, downhill role with room to grow if he turns practice buzz into live production.
