Treylin Payne brings production, instincts, and transfer-grown polish to Texas State’s linebacker room
In the 2025 season, Treylin Payne was Texas State’s tackling machine, finishing with 107 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and 2 interceptions, while also earning Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honors after a 24-tackle outburst. He’s a sturdy, high-motor linebacker who shows up everywhere, and sources credited him as the Bobcats’ best defender in 2025. Why care? Because Payne is the kind of glue player who raises a defense’s floor with range, toughness, and instincts — a strong fit for a team that wants production without the drama.
