Mason Rivera brings all-conference production and turnover creation to Cal Poly’s secondary
Rivera is a high-motor, high-impact safety who has become one of Cal Poly’s most reliable defensive pieces, with 82 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, an interception, and 6 pass breakups in his 2024 breakout season, earning Second Team All-Big Sky honors. He started as a walk-on and played his way into a starting role, which speaks to his toughness, instincts, and development curve. At 6-0, 190, he fits best as a physical, assignment-sound defender who can tackle, create turnovers, and raise the tone of a secondary.[2][9][10]
