rising Rice edge presence with real disruptive juice
Joseph Mutombo is a 6-foot-5, 257-pound redshirt sophomore DL at Rice who has already flashed playmaking upside, posting 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a pass breakup in the 2025 season after contributing 11 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 3.0 TFL, and an interception in 2024. He looks like a long, twitchy edge who can finish plays and create chaos rather than just occupy space, which makes him appealing for teams wanting length, upside, and developmental pass-rush traits. The fit question is simple: if you want an active front-seven piece with upside and a motor, he’s worth a look.
