Former four-star guard brought pressure defense and instant energy to SMU
In the 2017-18 season, Elijah Landrum flashed as a high-motor, disruptive guard for SMU, averaging 3.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.8 steals in 17.5 minutes while shooting 28.7% from the field and 24.7% from three. He was a top Oklahoma prep prospect and ESPN four-star signee, praised for scoring, rebounding and steal production at Central High and in EYBL play. The fit question is simple: if you want toughness, pace and perimeter pressure, he checked those boxes; if you need a polished shot-maker, the efficiency numbers were the red flag.
