Freshman linebacker Carter Cooney brings Bucknell size, pedigree, and upside
Carter Cooney enters the 2026 season as a 6-foot-1, 220-pound freshman linebacker for Bucknell with a strong prep résumé at Ramapo HS, where he earned three football letters, two All-League selections, and one All-Bergen-County nod. His profile suggests a physical, high-motor defender with early special-teams value and room to develop into a steady Patriot League piece. There’s little public statistical track record yet, so the intrigue is upside: athletic enough to project, tough enough to fit, and young enough to grow into a bigger role.
