Highlanders' Freshman Fireballer with Elite Velocity and HS Dominance
UC Riverside sophomore Brent Godina, a right-handed reliever, brings 95th percentile fastball velocity topping 89 mph from high school stardom at Lodi (CA), where he posted a 2.01 ERA, 6 wins, and 80 K's over 55.2 IP in 2024—far above national averages. In 2026, he's appeared in at least 2 games with a clean 0.00 ERA early on, though a wild pitch in a May 9 loss to Long Beach State hints at command tweaks needed. His raw power and debut-season relief role (15 apps in 2025) make him a high-upside bullpen arm with strikeout stuff—perfect fit for teams seeking velocity-driven closers ready to refine control.
