Nicholls’ 6-4 LHP Freshman with 88 MPH Max Velo and North AL All-State Pedigree
Payton Hunsaker, a 6-4, 185-lb left-handed pitching freshman from Nicholls State (2025 grad, committed 2024), brings an 88 MPH max fastball (recorded Jan 2024) and North AL Preseason All-State recognition to the Colonels. As a Birmingham, AL native from Chelsea High, he differentiates with elite velocity for a freshman LHP, a smooth delivery, and high-intensity mound presence—traits that signal immediate impact potential. No reported injury history; his intensity and competitive fire make him a strong fit for teams needing a reliable, high-upside lefty. Why care? He’s one of the most promising freshman LHPs in the Horizon League with pro-ready velocity and a track record of outperforming peers in high-stakes games.
