Two-way spark plug with late-inning poise for UMBC
Chris Harbert entered the 2026 season at UMBC as a versatile IF/RHP with proven JUCO production, and he has already shown real value as a clutch arm and bat for the Retrievers. In 2025 at Potomac State, he hit .398 with 18 doubles, six triples, and three homers, while pitching 18.2 innings with a 0.96 ERA and 14.46 K/9, and in 2026 he has delivered key relief outings, including a save in a bases-loaded jam at Penn and a nine-up, nine-down scoreless stint with four strikeouts against Maryland. He looks like a high-energy, multi-use fit who brings toughness, strikeout stuff, and some sneaky offense.
