Carson Ramos brings fresh-catcher upside to NIU
Carson Ramos is a freshman catcher for Northern Illinois in the 2026 season, giving the Huskies a young backstop with developmental upside and roster flexibility. NIU’s roster lists him at 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, which suggests a sturdy frame built for the demands of catching and handling a staff. As a newcomer, the big question is how quickly his defense, game-calling, and offensive consistency translate; if he settles in, he could become a useful long-term piece for a team that values toughness, durability, and a high-floor defender behind the plate.
