Tyler Smith gives South Alabama a sturdy right-handed innings-eater with strikeout flashes
In the 2026 season, South Alabama senior RHP Tyler Smith has been a useful relief weapon, highlighted by a season-high six shutout innings with 5 strikeouts in the Jaguars’ series-clinching win at Texas State[4]. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound right-hander has a 2-1 record and a 5.01 ERA in 2026, and his value is as much about toughness and versatility as raw numbers[1][10]. He looks like a fit for teams that want a power-bodied, strike-throwing competitor who can absorb innings and keep games from getting away.
