Derek Morris gives UMass a proven long-range leg at kicker
Morris looks like a useful specialist fit because he already showed real distance and volume for UMass, making 10 of 16 field goals in the 2025 season with a long of 55 yards and adding 13 extra points. He was also named to Athlon’s 2025 Preseason All-MAC Fourth Team as a specialist, which signals outside respect for his upside. The big selling points are range, composure on long attempts, and roster value on special teams; the caution is consistency, since his field-goal percentage still leaves room to grow.
