Rex Edwards brings freshman upside to Cal’s mound mix
In the 2026 season, Rex Edwards enters California’s pitching staff as a right-handed freshman from Chico High, giving the Golden Bears a young arm with room to grow. Cal lists him at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, and his value is the classic pitcher-castle of upside: size, a clean right-handed delivery, and developmental runway rather than a finished product. He’s the kind of arm that can fit a program looking to build depth and let talent marinate a bit — useful, intriguing, and very much a watch-list name.
