Layne Latimer brings SEC-level size, infield flexibility and a high-upside freshman profile to Murray State
Latimer enters Murray State as a 5-foot-11 freshman infielder from Henry County High School, giving the Racers a big, versatile defender with upside on both sides of the ball. Her high-school resume shows elite run prevention and strikeout volume from the circle—1.54 ERA, 135 strikeouts and a .175 opponent batting average in 2024-25—but since the roster lists her as an IF, the key question is how her athleticism translates into infield impact at the next level. She looks like a fit for a staff that values size, defensive reliability and long-term development.
