Hikaru Awata is a tiny guard with a big-play résumé for Troy
In the 2025-26 season, Hikaru Awata appeared in five games for Troy and scored his first career point against Southern Miss, while his pre-college résumé shows real playmaking juice: at Hachioji Gakuen Hachioji High School he averaged 10.0 points and 6.4 assists per game and helped win major Japanese high school titles. At 5-7, he’s clearly a speed-and-poise guard rather than a size mismatch; the fit question is simple: if you want a steady connector who can organize offense and compete with edge, he’s intriguing, but he’s still a low-minute developmental piece at the Division I level.
