6-foot-5 lefty Jaxon Baker brings legit upside and swing-and-miss pedigree to Long Beach State
Jaxon Baker is a 2026 freshman southpaw for Long Beach State who arrived with real buzz: Perfect Game ranked him as the No. 4 left-handed pitcher in California and the No. 40 LHP nationally in the 2025 class, and he was also a USA Baseball NTDP and Area Code Games arm. In the 2026 season, he flashed strikeout stuff but also showed freshman volatility, including a 4.1-inning scoreless debut against San Diego and a rough outing against Cal State Bakersfield. The appeal is the frame, left-handedness, and upside; the fit is best for a staff that can develop command and not rush him.
