Messiah Tilson brings size, speed, and upside to Rutgers’ secondary
A 2026 freshman DB for Rutgers, Messiah Tilson arrived as a four-star recruit and one of Illinois’ top defensive back prospects, with recruiting services ranking him among the nation’s better safety talents. Rutgers lists him at 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, and his high school résumé shows the kind of two-way juice coaches love: ball skills, track speed, and production on both defense and offense. He made his collegiate debut against UMass on Sept. 3, 2026, so the care factor here is upside—he looks like a high-ceiling, multi-sport athlete who could grow into a physical, rangy fit for an aggressive secondary.
