Matthew Paunove brings developing power-arm upside to Merrimack’s bullpen
In 2026, Merrimack lists Matthew Paunove as a **freshman right-handed pitcher** at 6-foot-0, 180 pounds, but there are **no published college season stats yet**, so the read is mostly on projection and pedigree. Perfect Game notes a **+5 mph fastball-velo jump since 10/21/2022** and a **best fastball of 82 mph**, while scouting profiles show a workable frame and two-way background that can help him add more strength and pitchability over time. He profiles as an **upside development arm** rather than a finished product right now.
