Patrick Niehus brings size, pop, and hot-corner potential to Gardner-Webb
Niehus is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed infielder who arrived at Gardner-Webb after showing real middle-of-the-order upside at IMG Academy in the 2023 season, when he hit .268 with 5 home runs, 17 RBI, 17 runs, and a .971 fielding percentage. The fit is obvious: he’s a physical, projectable bat with enough defensive value to stay on the dirt, and Gardner-Webb’s staff specifically pointed to his physicality and ability to add size while holding down the hot corner. That’s the kind of profile that can quietly become very noisy.
