Gianno Merlonghi brings glove-first impact with sneaky pop and pressure-speed value
In the 2025 season, Gianno Merlonghi hit .294 with a .351 OBP, .439 SLG, and 10 extra-base hits for Central Connecticut, and he also showed run-producing ability in 2026 with key knocks and stolen bases in game results. His calling card is defense: he earned the 2024 FCBL Defensive Player of the Year and was described as dominating center field, with league-high outfield assists and elite playmaking in the grass. He looks like the kind of outfielder who raises a team’s floor with range, instincts, and competitiveness, while still giving enough contact and gap power to matter at the plate.
