veteran floor general who helped spark Virginia Tech’s 2022 ACC title run
In the 2021-22 season, Storm Murphy was a steady, experienced lead guard for Virginia Tech, starting all 36 games and averaging 8.0 points, 2.9 assists, and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 43.3% from the field and 35.8% from three[3][13][14]. He mattered because he brought poise, shot-making, and late-game trust—his clutch 3 against Notre Dame was a perfect example of his calm-under-fire style[12]. The big differentiator was fit: a veteran point guard who understood Mike Young’s system, could run offense, and gave the Hokies an ACC-tournament-tested table-setter[3][6].
