defense-first Blue Devils catcher with some pop-and-grit upside
Rob Natale entered the 2026 season as Central Connecticut’s sophomore catcher, and the profile is pretty clear: a compact 5-foot-9, right-handed backstop whose value starts behind the plate and who has shown occasional contact pop in limited action. In the 2026 season, his line has been modest overall, but he has already contributed situationally with extra-base contact and sacrifice work, which fits a glove-first catcher who helps a pitching staff and doesn’t need to be the loudest bat in the lineup to matter. If your team wants toughness, receiving, and a steady baseball IQ, he’s a sensible fit.
