Olivia Cutuli brings two-way upside, but UMass is still shaping her circle role
Cutuli is a young Massachusetts arm with legit growth potential: as a sophomore, she logged 24.1 innings with a 2-1 record and 18 strikeouts, and in 2024-25 she showed she can handle heavier workloads with 50.2 innings, 28 strikeouts and three complete games. Her appeal is versatility—listed as a P/OF, she gives UMass roster flexibility—and she has already flashed strikeout ability in tougher outings, including a 7-strikeout effort vs. UConn. The upside is real, but the ERA remains a work in progress, so she fits best for a staff willing to develop her command and let her compete.
