Sun Belt & National LHP Pitcher of the Week with 11 Scoreless IP
Hayden Smith, the Troy Trojans' 6'2" LHP Junior, is a data-driven standout who delivered 11 scoreless innings with 6 Ks and only 3 hits in his latest National Pitcher of the Week run, holding opponents to a .222 average and .555 OPS. His differentiator is pure efficiency—122 pitches for a shutout—paired with an intensity level that fueled a 4-0 win record and 32 strikeouts in the 2026 season. Despite redshirting his freshman year at Kentucky (where he had a 5.40 ERA in 3.1 innings), he rebounded with a 1.93 ERA in summer ball for Lexington County, showing resilience and a Dean’s List academic pedigree. You should care because he’s a clutch performer who doesn’t just rely on stats; he brings a 'no runs' mentality and a HR-in-5-games batting streak (from his Morehead State career) that adds offensive versatility. For your team, he’s a perfect fit: a reliable, efficient lefty with elite control, a 3.48 ERA, and a personality that thrives under pressure.
