Lefty with swing-and-miss stuff: Caitlin Olensky gives Maryland a durable, high-upside arm
In the 2026 season, Caitlin Olensky emerged as Maryland’s workhorse left-handed pitcher, leading the team with 57 strikeouts over 76.2 innings while posting a 4.93 ERA and handling multiple starts in the circle. She has shown real bat-missing ability—like a five-inning, 8-strikeout gem against Fairfield—and stretch-out durability, but her value goes beyond the box score: the Nebraska transfer arrived with Big Ten experience, poise in pressure spots, and the kind of competitive edge coaches love. She looks like a fit if you want a starter who can compete, eat innings, and still has room to sharpen consistency.
