Maryland's 7-Foot Slovak Big Man with Rim-Protecting Upside
In the 2017-18 season, 7'0" center Michal Cekovsky started 19 of 28 games for Maryland, averaging 4.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and ranking second on the team with 27 blocks at a stellar 62.1% FG—showcasing elite rim protection and efficiency as a paint presence. Hailing from Slovakia via prep stardom, his length and shot-blocking instincts make him a defensive anchor, though limited minutes suggest untapped potential amid competition. A high-energy, physical big ideal for teams needing interior toughness and lob-finishing without ball-handling demands.
