Big-bodied Utah State corner with upside, but still waiting for a breakout
John Shepard is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound redshirt junior cornerback for Utah State who entered the Aggies after earning junior-college honors at San Diego Mesa, where he posted 22 tackles, 3 interceptions, 7 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick in his final season. For Utah State, he appeared in five games in the 2025 season to preserve his redshirt and did not record a stat, so the main story is traits over production right now. His size gives him press-matchup appeal and physicality, but he looks like a developmental fit rather than an instant plug-and-play starter.
