Matt Brown brings size and experience to Akron’s rotation, with a low-variance arm looking for a bounce-back
In the 2025 season at South Florida, the 6-foot-4, 240-pound right-hander made 10 appearances, logged 16 innings, struck out 8, and posted a 7.88 ERA with a .254 opponent batting average, while Akron lists him as a graduate student and notes he did not play in 2026 because of a medical redshirt. Brown’s appeal is pro-style body, starter/relief versatility, and enough prior game experience to help a staff, but the recent run prevention numbers say he’s more of a reclamation project than a sure thing. If your team wants an experienced arm with upside and patience, he’s worth a look.
