Evan Gauger brings low-usage guard depth to UNI
Gauger is a role guard for Northern Iowa whose value is more about efficiency, defensive activity, and keeping the offense organized than filling up the box score; in the 2020-21 season, he appeared in 13 games and averaged 1.5 points with more steals than turnovers, a small but telling sign of hustle and discipline. The main reason to care is fit: he profiles as a steady, team-first backcourt piece rather than a high-usage scorer, so his appeal is in connective play, effort, and reliable minutes when a coach needs stability over flash.
