J.J. Hill is giving Mississippi State a bruising early-season spark
In the 2026 season, Mississippi State freshman RB J.J. Hill has hit the ground running: 7 carries, 118 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a chunky 16.9 yards per carry in the opener against ULM. At 6-foot, 220 pounds, he profiles as a powerful downhill runner with big-play burst, and the early workload suggests the staff trusts him near the goal line. The eye-popper here is his efficiency and physicality — a back who can punish tacklers and flip field position fast. For a team needing an explosive, low-maintenance runner, he’s already making a strong case.
