Explosive Freshman RB Transfers to Toledo with 78-Yard Breakout Speed
Corey Smith, a no-nonsense true freshman RB from Penn State, is transferring to Toledo with three years of eligibility after limited 2025 playing time. His standout differentiator is elite speed: a 78-yard rush (PSU’s longest in 2024) and 100m times of 11.10s, showcasing breakaway potential. Though he averaged only 2.1 YPC in 2025 (14 carries, 30 yards), his 2024 burst (152 yards, 6.9 YPC) reveals high upside. Smith’s intensity, clean injury history, and raw explosiveness make him a fit for teams needing a dynamic kick-returner and late-game threat. Care for him because he’s a high-ceiling athlete ready to dominate at a new level.
