Dillon Kirksey is Coppin State’s workhorse starter with swing-and-miss upside
In the 2026 season, Coppin State pitcher Dillon Kirksey handled a heavy starter’s load, logging 72.2 innings with 58 strikeouts while leading the Eagles’ qualified pitchers in innings and punchouts, though the 6.69 ERA shows he’s still fighting consistency. He’s a 6-foot-2 left-hander who competes, eats innings, and has shown enough strikeout ability to matter; the double-edged sword is that his role has come with traffic and damage. The extra value: he was also recognized for community impact in summer ball, which suggests a coachable, high-character fit with starter traits rather than flash-only stuff.
