Joey Monetti brings steady, right-handed catching value for the Aztecs
Joey Monetti is a 6-foot, 170-pound right-handed catcher from Santee who enters San Diego State as a freshman/redshirt freshman, and the early read is a classic backstop profile: compact frame, local pedigree, and a right-right setup that fits a developmental catcher path. In his high school career, he showed real bat-to-ball pop and on-base ability, posting a .429 average, .476 OBP, 39 hits, 26 RBI, and 4 home runs in his 2025-26 MaxPreps line, while also handling the glove at a .981 fielding percentage. If you want a tough, local catcher with upside rather than instant headline hype, Monetti is absolutely worth a look.
