Resilient Saint Joseph's Forward with Explosive Upside, Cut Short by Injuries
Markell Lodge, a 6'7" forward for Saint Joseph's Hawks, showcased career highs like 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting at La Salle and started five straight games averaging 12.2 PPG in the 2018-19 season before a season-ending thumb surgery in February 2019 derailed him; his career stats (2.6 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 72.1% FG over college tenure) belie his athletic differentiators—explosive dunks, shot-blocking prowess, and 'next man up' toughness amid rampant team injuries. Post-college, he grinded pro ball in Argentina, proving durable intensity for bench spark roles.
